Tan Sri Dato' Azman Hashim shares valuable insights

The Chairman of Ambank Group of Companies, Tan Sri Dato' Azman Hashim shared his success story and provided sound advice on success in life at a talk which was held at UTAR Perak Campus on 12 November 2013. The talk which was organised by UTAR Department of Consultancy and Commercialisation (DCC) attracted more than 300 attendees comprising students and staff. Also present at the talk were UTAR Vice President (R&D and Commercialisation) Prof Ir Dr Lee Sze Wei and UTAR Council Member Hew Fen Yee.

"Find something you're passionate about and keep fuelling that interest," said Tan Sri Dato' Azman. He   advised students on the importance of prioritising the maximum possibilities to excel in business ventures instead of aiming solely for quick profits."

Students were also told that the mastery of soft skills, moral values and ethics are very important in order to be a successful person. "Adequate soft skills with academic knowledge will help to increase your chances of success," he stressed.

He then opened the floor for questions before ending the talk. The students participated actively during the Q&A sessions. 

He was invited by UTAR to share his experiences in the UTAR Entrepreneurial Talk Series. The talk series, which is open to students and staff, aim to inspire the audience with the experiences and insights of distinguished entrepreneurs.

Tan Sri Dato' Azman is well known as a corporate figure. His professional experience began in Australia. Upon his return in 1960, he joined Bank Negara Malaysia until May 1964 when he left to start his own accountancy practice of Azman & Co which later grew into a partnership, Azman Wong Salleh & Co. He then joined the Board of Malayan Banking Berhad in 1966 and was its Executive Director from 1971 to 1980. He was then appointed Executive Chairman of Kwong Yik Bank Berhad in 1980 until 1982 when he became Chairman of the AmBank Group until today.
